Three has expanded its 4G network to more parts of the London Underground, with Paddington, Whitechapel, Canary Wharf and Woolwich stations all now having 4G coverage.
This connectivity improvement should be a big boost to residents and visitors to the capital, as they’ll be able to enjoy high-speed mobile data in more places when travelling across the city.
With this latest network expansion, Three 4G is now available across 25% of the London underground, including at all stations on the Elizabeth line.
Speaking about this announcement, David Hennessy, Chief Technology Officer at Three UK said:
“I am delighted that Three customers now have connectivity on the Elizabeth line. With coverage now in all stations along the route, our customers can access the latest travel information across ticket halls and platforms, as well as scroll on social media, check their emails, make calls, and stream videos whilst they’re on the move.”
While this announcement is just about 4G, Three also offers 5G in some parts of the London Underground, including Archway, Notting Hill Gate, Tufnell Park, Camden Town, Mornington Crescent, Euston, Oxford Circus, and Tottenham Court Road.
So next time you’re travelling through the London Underground don’t be surprised if you get a 4G or even 5G signal, particularly when you’re in a station.
And while Three’s London Underground coverage is sure to keep on improving, in the meantime you can make use of Three’s Wi-Fi networks in many other stations, so one way or another there’s a good chance you’ll be able to get – or stay – online.
This is available at over 250 stations – just look out for the ‘Three_WIFI’ Wi-Fi network and connect to that.
